In storm-prone areas like Louisiana, proactive maintenance is a key aspect of keeping your property structurally sound. High winds, hail and rain can take advantage of existing vulnerabilities in your roof, such as missing shingles and cracked flashing, to cause more extensive damage than they may have otherwise. But how can you make sure that roof maintenance will be scheduled well in advance of a storm, and what is the best way to ensure that your building’s structure is safe afterwards?

When you work with WestBank Roofing, there is no need to worry about scheduling individual proactive maintenance visits or post-storm checks. Our roof maintenance programs ensure that your roof will get the regular and emergency assessments it needs to keep both you and your building safe. And as certified Fortified and GAF roofing contractors, our high-quality materials and warranty offerings allow us to protect your most valuable asset even further, now and for a long time to come.

What Roof Maintenance Programs Do We Offer at WestBank Roofing?

After 50 years in the roofing industry, our team at WestBank Roofing has seen it all. From vulnerabilities due to normal wear and tear to damage caused by fallen trees and weather events, nothing is beyond our repair and replacement skills. But instead of leaving damage unattended until repairs become a necessity, you may want to consider a solution which can benefit both your property and your wallet in the long-term. That is, a proactive maintenance program, such as one (or both) of the two we offer our community:

Standard maintenance program

Before we can determine how much maintenance your roof will need—and how often it may be needed—our team must first assess your roof. Depending on factors including its current condition and age, as well as the materials used and any potential causes of future damage—such as trees—nearby, we will make a plan to visit between 1 and 4 times per year. Our contractors will then work with you to set an annual fee which will be split between these visits.

Standard Plus “Storm Watch” program

Unlike our standard maintenance program, which aims to catch and repair damage in its earliest stages, our “Storm Watch” program allows us to work on potential damage as soon as possible after it occurs. Once it is safe to travel in the aftermath of a major storm, an inspector will be dispatched to your house. Your roof and property will be assessed for damage, and any necessary repairs will be scheduled. And there is no need to worry if your power is out or if you don’t have a cell signal, as our “Storm Watch” roof inspections are scheduled automatically.

Protecting Your Roof Before a Storm

Proactive maintenance visits allow roofing experts to do more than just shore up your roof’s defenses before a storm hits. They also allow us to ensure that your roof is not costing you more money than it needs to. We do this by:

Regularly searching for vulnerabilities

During maintenance assessments, our team will identify and reinforce weakened or damaged spots before they can cause further problems. Some of the things we’ll be on the lookout for include:

  • Clogged or damaged gutters and downspouts, or gutters which are no longer securely attached to your roof
  • Dead or damaged trees and tree branches, or branches which are too close to your property
  • Excessive debris on your roof, which can clog the gutter or create a shady, moist environment perfect for moss and algae growth
  • Compromised fascias and soffits—that is, material which protects the underside of your roof from water damage

Warped, cracked, loose or missing shingles or flashing—that is, thin metal which protects non-shingle areas on your roof from water intrusion

Improving your roof’s energy efficiency

Gaps in your roof; clogged or damaged ventilation; and inadequate, patchy or otherwise compromised insulation can all contribute to reduced efficiency in your heating and air conditioning systems. As these appliances are forced to work harder to affect your property’s temperature, the amount of energy used will increase, and your energy bill with it.

Helping you avoid larger repairs

What is less expensive: a small repair, like a new leak in your attic, or a much larger fix, like mold in your ceilings? While proactive maintenance may seem costly and unnecessary, identifying concerns and unearthing issues early can keep you from paying exorbitant and easily avoidable repair costs.

Benefits of Working with WestBank Roofing

While tornadoes, hurricanes and hail storms care little for recent roof repairs or renovations, that doesn’t mean there’s no point to proactive maintenance. Unaddressed issues like loose shingles, clogged gutters and cracked flashing provide easy opportunities for wind and rain to damage your property even further. By making repairs as soon as possible, you can ensure that your roof is ready to face most any kind of inclement weather.

The effectiveness of our roof maintenance programs, however, is about more than just regular inspections and quick repairs. WestBank Roofing has the certifications and accreditation to show the experience we bring to each and every repair and replacement, including our:

  • GAF roofing contractor certification. Through our uncompromising commitment to quality in our sales and services, we have earned the honor of being one of the less than 5% of North American roofing contractors with this status. This designation comes with an additional benefit as well, as it allows us to offer the GAF System Plus Limited Warranty to our clients.
  • Fortified roofing contractor certification. Not only have we completed a Fortified certification test, but we also consistently work to a higher construction standard and use advanced, high-quality materials in our work.
  • A+ Better Business Bureau rating, earned by showing our commitment to honest communication with our customers.
